Ode to a Debtor
He dreads the postman coming
And fears when the phone it rings
He knows he shouldn’t do it
But borrowing’s not a sin
With rates lower than ever
And the PM saying spend
How could he have resisted
Not his little flexible friend
The mantra is the same
Sung out both day and night
Take this loan today
More debt is quite alright
Go buy what you want
No need to wait or save
Who cares if you can’t sleep
Frugality is not the way
Cry "must have" and "must get"
The answer is quite clear
You can have five grand more
Just repay over twenty years
So what if your life’s
No longer yours, but their’s
Just keep up the repayments
As for the rest, who cares?
